Frequently asked questions
Do I need any experience to start?
Not at all. We teach complete beginners as well as more experienced players. Lessons start from the very basics and move at your own pace — and you'll be playing real songs early on.
What age can children start lessons?
Private lessons suit children from age 7 upwards. Group lessons are available for children and teens aged 9–16, and for adult beginners from age 16.
How much do lessons cost?
Group lessons start at €29 per lesson (60 minutes). Private lessons are €47 for 30 minutes or €67 for 45 minutes. All prices include VAT and learning materials.
Do you teach in English?
Yes. We teach in English, Swedish and Finnish. This makes Plektra a great fit for expats and international families in Helsinki.
Where are lessons held — can I also learn online?
Lessons take place at Albertinkatu 14 in Punavuori, central Helsinki — easily reachable by public transport. Private lessons are also available fully online if that suits you better.
How quickly will I be able to play a real song?
Most students play their first real song within the first few lessons. We focus on music you actually want to play, which keeps motivation high.
