At Plektra we teach guitar lessons in English for international and exchange students from Aalto University, the University of Helsinki, Hanken, Metropolia and other universities across the city. No experience needed, and no language barrier either.

Group lessons in particular are a relaxed, social way to build a routine outside of lectures and meet people who aren't all from your own programme or exchange group.

How much do guitar lessons cost for students in Helsinki?

Group lessons are €29 per lesson (60 minutes, 13 lessons per term) — the most popular option for students. Private one-on-one lessons are €67 per lesson (45 minutes) if you'd rather learn individually.

Do I need to bring my own guitar?

No. Guitars are available to borrow for group students, so you can start straight away without buying anything.

Can I join partway through a semester or just for a short stay?

Yes. We know exchange and short-term stays don't always line up neatly with term dates — get in touch and we'll find a group or private slot that fits the time you're in Helsinki.

Is it a good way to meet people?

Very much so. Group lessons are small and social, and many international students tell us it's an easy, low-pressure way to make friends outside of university.

Do you teach in English?

Yes, all lessons on this page are taught in English. No experience or prior musical background is needed.
