Want to do more than play other people's songs? At Plektra in Helsinki, music production is part of how we teach guitar and bass. Alongside playing, we work on composition, arranging, improvisation, note reading and capturing your ideas as recordings — so you build the skills to create your own music, not just perform it. Lessons are available in English, Swedish and Finnish.
A note on scope: Plektra is a guitar and bass school. We don't run a separate Ableton-only or production-only course — instead, production thinking is woven into your instrument lessons. If your aim is to write, arrange and record your own material on guitar or bass, you'll feel right at home.

Music production — composition, arranging, recording, improvisation and note reading — is woven into private lessons as part of your musical development, rather than offered as a separate production-only course. If your goal is to write and record your own music on guitar or bass, this is a great fit.
Within your guitar or bass lessons we can cover songwriting and composition, arranging parts, understanding song structure, playing to a click, and the basics of capturing your ideas as recordings — always anchored in your instrument.
No. We start from where you are and build up. You don't need a home studio — bring your goals and we'll work towards them step by step.
Yes. We teach in English, Swedish and Finnish, so lessons are a good fit for expats and international residents in Helsinki.
Private lessons are €67 per lesson (45 minutes), available in central Helsinki and online.
